Open hours

Current open times for equipment stores and bookable spaces will be displayed to you during the booking process. This will include any special closure days.

We recommend that all bookings are made in advance to avoid dissapointment.

To avoid queues, the system will indicate if the checkout desk has reached capacity and will suggest alternative start and end times for your booking.

Announcements

Website Maintenance 22/7

The Bookit website will be down for maintenance from 5pm on Tuesday 22 July. This work should take less than 1 hour to complete.

Workshop Summer Closures

The Maltings Workshop will be closed after Friday 9th of May for an extended period maintenance. It will re-open in September for the new semester.

All technical spaces and workshops (except Fashion, Music, and Film & TV) will be closed from Thursday 29th May. Undergraduate students’ access to our facilities will end for the summer on this date, but our technicians and support staff can answer questions and offer advice throughout the summer – please see the ECA Technical Facilities Directory for contact details.

As we move into the summer period, we carry out essential maintenance and make improvements for next year. Our on-programme Postgraduate students continue to access most facilities throughout the summer as normal from Monday 9th June. If you are an Undergraduate student with extensions, re-sits, or if you think you will need support with specific projects over the summer period, please discuss your project with workshop technicians as soon as possible so that we can make sure we are able to support you.
 
From Monday 25th August, all of our technical spaces and workshops will be closed, to allow staff to complete a deep clean and prepare for the new semester. We look forward to welcoming students to all of our facilities from Monday 8th September for Welcome Week activities. Technical spaces and workshops will be available to book from Monday 15th September.

PGR Spaces

Booking of PGR Spaces will transfer to Booker from 1st August. Booker features a user-friendly pick-your-seat interface for desk bookings which Bookit doesn’t have. In the meantime, you can continue to make bookings via Bookit until 31st July.

Policies

Remember the golden rules of Bookit

The following is a quick reference summary of some of the key points in the ECA Equipment Loans (Bookit): Terms and Conditions of Use. Please ensure you have read the wording in full.

  • Individual facilities have their own opening hours and entitlement policies. Certain resources may require approval, induction or have other restrictions.
  • Loan equipment is to be used for University study, teaching or research-related purposes only.
  • You can only borrow equipment from one store in a single booking. Bookings should be made in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • When collecting equipment, you must bring your valid student or staff card with you. Uncollected bookings will be automatically cancelled.
  • You are responsible for your own health and safety and that of those around you whilst using borrowed equipment.
  • You are responsible for the equipment for the entire time it is on loan to you. You may be asked to pay for repair or replacement of items which are deemed lost, stolen or damaged.
  • You may be able to extend your booking if the equipment has not been booked by someone else. Please contact the store to check availability before the equipment is due to be returned. Once equipment is late, the booking cannot be extended.
  • Equipment must be returned to the store from which it was borrowed, before the end of the loan period and during store opening times.
  • The store cannot be held responsible for any loss of data that may occur from using recordable media. Any files saved onto media cards or hard drives supplied with loan equipment will be deleted on return; ensure you have a backup copy.
  • Late items will incur fines. You will not be able to make new bookings whilst you have late items. If you have unpaid fines you will not be able to log in.
